These are common issues or error codes we're aware of. We'll update it whenever a new issue is confirmed.
Note - this is a targeted list of high-impact issues that have known fixes. If you experience issues that do not appear on this list, please check our troubleshooting guides or submit a bug report!
Easy Anti-Cheat Launch Error
This issue is usually caused by an issue with Easy Anti-Cheat initialising on SCUM's start-up. This issue should be resolvable by repairing Easy Anti-Cheat's installation. To do this:
- Navigate to the following directory on your computer:
- C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SCUM\EasyAntiCheat
- Locate the .bat file InstallEasyAntiCheat.bat
- Double-click and start the .bat file
If the .bat file doesn't run or the issue persists, you may first need to uninstall Easy Anti-Cheat. To do this:
- Locate the bat file InstallEasyAntiCheat.bat
- Right-click the file and hit Edit
- If prompted, open the file with Notepad
- In Notepad, change install in the script to uninstall. It should look like this:
- %0\..\EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe uninstall 09841e3c098d491b960ae214dd49808a
- Save the changes and close Notepad.
- Double-click and start the .bat file to complete the uninstall
- Upon completion, change uninstall in the script back to install. It should look like this:
- %0\..\EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe install 09841e3c098d491b960ae214dd49808a
- Save the changes and close Notepad.
- Double-click and start the .bat file to complete the installation
Pak or Missing shader error codes
These error codes are usually caused by corrupted or missing files. This should be resolvable by deleting the referenced files in the error codes. To do this:
- Navigate to the directory referenced in the error codes messages, and locate the affected file(s)
- Right-click and delete the affected files
- Reopen SCUM through Steam. When you do, Steam should start the process to reinstall the removed files
- If this process does not occur automatically, you can start this process yourself by following the information below
If this does not resolve this issue, try verifying your SCUM installation through Steam:
- Open Steam
- Navigate to SCUM in your Steam Library
- Right-click SCUM and select Properties
- Click Installed Files
- Click Verify integrity of game files
If the issue is still not resolved, try uninstalling and reinstalling SCUM.
Character or vehicle clipping through the ground, walls or buildings
This typically occurs when SCUM cannot load fast enough to keep up with your actions in game, typically when driving/piloting a vehicle/aircraft.
You should be able to mitigate this issue by doing the following:
- Open the Settings menu
- Open the Graphics submenu
- Increase the Streaming Speed option
- This setting dictates the speed at which assets and areas are loaded
'Connection Lost' when connecting to a multiplayer server
This issue typically occurs when your game client is struggling to connect to an official or private server. Below is a list of common troubleshooting steps that may resolve this issue:
- Try performing the common connection issues troubleshooting steps
- Ensure that SCUM is installed on a SSD (or Solid State Drive.) If SCUM is installed on a HDD (or Hard Disk Drive), try installing SCUM on an SSD instead
- Ensure that you do not have an active VPN
- Delete your SCUM save folder. This should be located under the following directory:
- C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SCUM
- WARNING - Doing this will delete your single player progress and your current settings. This will not affect any progress on multiplayer servers.
